Grange Courtyard House

The transformation of a small workers cottage into a modern family home exemplifies the principles of place-making in Brisbane's architectural landscape. By leveraging the existing structure while elevating it to accommodate new living spaces, the design respects the history of the original cottage while providing a contemporary solution for family living.

The newly designed extension enhances the home’s footprint, creating a seamless flow between indoor and outdoor areas. Light-filled rooms are strategically articulated to foster a sense of openness and connectivity, ensuring that every space benefits from natural light and views of the surrounding gardens.

The incorporation of outdoor spaces, such as a landscaped garden and an inviting pool area, encourages family interaction and promotes a lifestyle that embraces the Queensland climate. These garden areas not only serve aesthetic purposes but also contribute to the overall wellbeing of the occupants, creating a serene escape within the urban environment.

The design prioritizes functionality while maintaining a strong connection to the locale, integrating materials and finishes that resonate with Brisbane’s architectural vernacular. This project exemplifies how thoughtful place-making can enrich residential living, turning a simple cottage into a vibrant home that celebrates both its heritage and the lifestyle of its inhabitants.
